Greetings. On 23 February 2013, Judah Thornewill of University of Louisville created a Google+ community called, “Using Google Apps as a Free LMS: A crowdsourced course for educators” and invited anyone interested to join in the experiment of trying to build–for one another–a collection of learning materials to satisfy the (sudden?) need of educators around the globe.

As of today (the start of the ocTEL course), 394 people have signed up and the group has been having weekly On Air community meetings. Please consider joining in. We’ll be watching and connecting to ocTEL as well.

Looks quite interesting and just in time for me. I’m planning to experiment lightly with Google Apps in place of Moodle for a short elective course starting in a few weeks. I’ll pass this along to some of my colleagues in #coetail as well. Thanks! http://www.coetail.com/yis/cohort-2/

Sounds good. I did see some plugins for Apps providing LMS functionality. Google themselves also provide http://code.google.com/p/course-builder/

Interested about this topic, as  am also planning to trial Google for Higher Education. I want to see what we can do with Google, I know couple of universities that is trialing it. I am quite enthusiastic try out and see how it goes and how innovative can educators be with tools such as Google. There are two reasons: 1 it is free to some extent 2 would like to see how innovative we can be.
