I’ve just been writing up a practitioner research report on Joint Practice Development as an alternative model for CPD. The idea being that no one knows what brilliant teaching really is and that giving tutors the time and space to reflect on educational problems and issues and then try out their solutions and critically evaluate the impact of their modified interventions. It’s about leading and promoting innovation. Our practitioner research was within the context of a Computer and Technology curriculum and looking at assessment for learning and addressing barriers to learning.
The point is that developing such a shift change in an organisation in both style and engagement of CPD and that of innovative practice requires careful establishment of the right conditions. Creating a community of learning, communities of practice and acknowledging that developing best practice is a personal journey that takes time and requires support from peers and management.
