Hi Ted

Unfortunately work kept me in Manchester (I’m not a full-time student), but I was there virtually, courtesy of Twitter and some interesting online presentations. Have you seen any of the presentations? I looked out for David Crystal’s as I know from past experience that he is an engaging speaker, and for Jim Scrivener’s “Demand High” sessions, as I am a keen reader of the Demand High ELT blog (http://demandhighelt.wordpress.com/).

I particularly enjoyed the session on One-to-one learning: handheld devices in technology-supported English learning by  Michael Carrier… and this seems particularly relevant to some areas I’m “reading myself into” for my studies.

I’m one of Gary’s students on the MA Educational Technology and TESOL at the University of Manchester. By day I’m also a Learning Technologist at the same HEI. (Hello Gary – thanks for the links!)

This is my first MOOC and I’m pleased to see a group for those interested in language learning and teaching. I look forward to seeing more here and in the Google+ circle.
