Kathrine JensenParticipant
I was struck by the ‘just in time’ issue as well. I think it is quite challenging to be the support and I remembered the keynote from PELeCOn by Joyce Seitzinger which was about how she focuses on getting staff to develop a personal learning network which can be a sort of ‘just in time’ support. She recognised that she could not offer development, training and support for all the tools…
I found it interesting to watch

Kathrine JensenParticipantJust had another thought in relation to this activity you designed as I was reading the 7c design approach by Grainne Conole, which is in the resources section. One of the 7c is collaborate and I wondered if there was anyway you could incorporate this (or an aspect of it) so that when students had done the activity, they would be able to see responses from the other students and possibly comment?
Kathrine JensenParticipantThis looks excellent. I was thinking that this could be used as preparation for a number of staff/student sessions, to get them thinking about the topic that they are going to engage with and also as you say provide the person running the session with information to embed in the session. In a way this uses elements from the flipped classroom approach as it asks learners to undertake some activity before face to face (or synchronous) session, which can then be addressed and embedded in the session to make it engaging and relevant/personalised.
Kathrine JensenParticipantNot stuck or confused but simply not set enough time aside to complete this activity this week. So I am using this time on Saturday to write a blog about bits of the activities for this week, skipping what I have not done. Will probably post this on Monday so a bit behind.
Kathrine JensenParticipantGreat post, really useful and thanks for sharing your expertise. Often people think surveys are simple tools and do not put a lot of thought into design of questions.
Kathrine JensenParticipantI also so chose to watch the snippet of Eric Mazur. I wrote a blogpost about how the video made me realise that this approach was all about collaboration and discussion rather than the technology. I ended up with more questions as I wondered about how the students collaborated outside the classroom and how the in class discussions were built on in terms of students using their understanding/knowledge etc.
This discussion thread has made me want to try out socrative, though probably not like Eric Mazur to test understanding of concepts, so thanks!
