Hi all,
I have just spent some time reading up on the course and looking through some of these early posts as I am very late to the party and to be honest I am not sure what I have got myself into!
I currently work in an FE college in Shropshire and teach on the HE & Diploma courses as well as working as a technician part time. As far as I can see from the other introductions and profiles I am out on a limb as I teach (and am qualified in) Fashion Design. My recent experience in industry points to the growing importance of social media and online engagement and I am interested as to how these tools can be used to engage students, and also how we can use online learning to improve students digital literacy and at the same time stimulate them to explore this area for themselves. I however do not feel as if I am up to date enough to really push them into this new world!
I am very new to teaching and untrained at the moment, I though that this course may be a good introduction to the world of learning. I am also interested to learn how other individuals in the creative/arts/design practices combine the very visual aspects of these type of courses with TEL.
As this is my first post I will leave it at that as I still need to formulate my ‘big question’ and round off my introduction, but hello to all and I look forward to this new MOOC experience (have only just become aware of the term).
Will hopefully literally ‘catch up’ with you all soon.
Regards, Anna
