It’s great to see some learner support designs being posted. Megan Kine and Alice Shepherd have written blog posts focusing on tutor support with reference to Gilly Salmon’s 5 stage model and integrating peer review into a course through the application of David Nicol’s PEER principles.

A great opportunity to get hands-on with peer review (and complete activity 7.2) if you want to have a look at them and provide some feedback. Things to consider when reviewing are listed in the course materials, under activity 7.2, at: http://octel.alt.ac.uk/course-materials/supporting-learners/

Thanks Grainne! I would be really grateful for any peer review or general comments. My post can be seen at http://www.megankime.net/models-for-supporting-learning-salmon-octel-7-1/

I can’t stress enough how important Induction Weeks are for hammering out initial challenges with learners/participants.  This is the “dry run”, the opportunity to get peer help or tutor assistance with the technology, tools, and organization of the course/event/MOOC.

I concur with James’ view about how important week zero was for easing into this MOOC and it made all the difference to how I engage with this course.
