There were a few in the seesion the other day that didn’t have internet-enabled devices, and when I asked them if they wanted to use my smartphone / iPad, they said ‘no’ and that they were happy to share a classmate’s (and take it in turns to answer the questions).  If very few people have devices in a session, you could turn the quiz into a…[Read more]

I did a workshop back in March for FE teachers, looking at ‘Quick Wins’ they could use in their teaching (if appropriate) and introduced several web-based, free-to-use tools.  The two that went down the best with the audience were Padlet and Kahoot.

Concentrating on Kahoot, I think that the main reason it goes down so well is because everyone…[Read more]

HOARY SAYINGS I USE AS A LEARNING TECHNOLOGIST (regarding staff and student ‘buy-in’):

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.  Actually, quite often you can’t even lead it…

Build it and they will not come.

What has worked for me is going to where staff and students already are (be it Facebook, Instagram or whatever) and…[Read more]
