Great to see so much enthusiasm! BTW Paul, Rose must really take the credit for this group – it was her idea! ;o)
Anne, your post inspired me and I totally agree with your matchmaker analogy. I’m finding staff to be mainly enthusiastic, certainly alot more now than they used to be, but lack of time seems to be a real issue. Face-face workshops suffer from poor attendance so we recently tried an online approach, similar to ocTEL. In short, although there was alot of interest, participation was low and dropped severely after just 3 (of 8) weeks. I’m writing up the evaluation now and the overarching message is lack of time to engage. I think this format could potentially be really effective, ideally run in conjunction with face-to-face sessions, but needs work in finding the right balance…

Littledotryan one of the positive things I found from our online course was that it was peer-led and peer-mentored so we maintained a sense of community – I think this really helped alleviate the ‘fear’.
Thanks for sharing the JISC link Rose – I’m off to read it now …and also to catch up with the conversation on Anne’s blog…
