OK – I have just finished listening to the second half of a webinar advertised as starting noon GMT but it must have been noon BST as checking 30 mins early I found it was underway. So that has highlighted to me that having recordings available is a backup strategy for errors on both sides (admin & student), however I doubt I’ll bother to see it as the interactive opportunity is not there then. This adds another perspective to “flexibility” and asynchronous for me. It was weird watching the frenetic chat between people who obviously knew one another but as I was not “in the groove” (late joining) and part of that, the chat seemed frivolous. I doubt I’ll watch the recording as to me being able to input is important which I did not realise before. These comments relate to time zone diversity for the MOOC probably not an issue here as ocTEL staff will get it any timings right and I have learned to check in early in case. I’ve done the twitter bit but that thread seems a bit frivolous at the moment. BTW I work in edtech in rural medical education.
Hi Peter – interesting .. you have started a specific forum topic (http://octel.alt.ac.uk/2014/groups/activity-0-2-small-group-reflection/forum/topic/webinars-the-pitfalls/) from a reflective “post” I made below. So you identified a thread for further discussion in a probably more suitable type of platform. hmm learning already.
Half the game is working out where to put what and the answer is very subjective.
