<p>Interesting &#8211; a comparison with Yammer might be useful. As you say, Twitter will continue to dominate because it has  &#8216;a much larger userbase and many active educator networks&#8217;.  However a lot of academics shy away from it so alternatives are always welcome.</p>

<p>Agree re: VLE integration &amp; lock in. The adaptive aspect of Learnsmart is something staff have expressed an interest in as it&#8217;s not something on offer automatically via VLE quiz mechanisms.However until we see it in action and work through the implications we can&#8217;t be sure about its value. Lots of provisos as ever.</p>

<p>I agree that the current numbers on octel might be fine on OpenSim but not the numbers we had at the outset.</p>

<p>It also needs to be relevant to the learning in format &amp; in kind. An essay is not a suitable form of assessment of a practical skill for example.</p>

<p>If I was extolling the virtues of online feedback &amp; marking, I wouldn&#8217;t major on faster feedback as I suspect that might well not be achieved in the early days.</p>

<p>Interesting &amp; relevant even if we mostly operate at a more modest level than the speakers. I was particularly struck by the last two examples of Sussex &amp; Cambridge. It was refreshing to read too that organisational change in HE needn&#8217;t  always be negative &amp; reactive.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I thought I&#8217;d take a look at some of the oer repositories referred to above &#8211; my initial search being for maths resources for bioscience, something of relevance to staff I work with.</p>
<p>I started off in the<strong> HEA resource  centre</strong> but it seemed to be more about projects to generate OER than actual resources – they are on Jorum seemingly.</p>
