    You’re right, I think, about the difficulty of designing a course to meet such a diversity of expectations, but this approach does shift the responsibility for learning firmly towards the student. Heutagogy in action! Personally I’m looking forward to learning from the perspectives of others.

    sI was surprised to find that the badges are motivating and it caused me to wonder why. I’m not a person who does things for the recognition but in past MOOCs I’ve always felt like a voice in the wilderness – nobody responding to anything I posted. I guess badges provide some form of recognition of input.
