I’ve been wrestling with several different “in house vs off-the-shelf” choices lately. A different IP issue form Rose’s has us going to “off-the-shelf” in one area-support for TOEFL and IELTS in a newly forming faculty at a Japanese university. Quite a while ago in an English for Academic Purposes course at a Japanese university we used Criterion as an assessment tool. I had no choice in using it and was skeptical at first, but soon really embraced it.

I’m always a bit ambivalent about these performances by academic publishers. It is wonderful of Taylor and Francis to open up a few articles for a period of time.
