Great to be in this group. Thanks to fleapalmer and Rose Heaney for tracking me down on Twitter. I guess they knew I’d be interested because I wrote about working with staff in my first blog post (where I’ve also been having an interesting conversation in the comments with Janet Gordon http://annehole.wordpress.com/2014/04/29/beginning-octel-big-and-little-questions/#comments ). There I used the analogy of the learning technologist as matchmaker – getting to know teachers’ & students’ learning contexts and needs on one side and tech tools on the other, then pairing them up in exciting and productive ways. If we get to know our ‘customers’ needs and can offer them technology that provides solutions the chances for enthusiasm increase.
I’m still liking ‘matchmaker’ a week later. I find that we have regular contact with those who are already enthusiastic, but I’m wondering about how to reach those who are less enthusiastic more than we do currently, so that we can get to know their needs, contexts and potentially pair them up or help them move on, should they wish.
